Privacy Policy
Effective September 8, 2026. Yard Signals is operated by Azalea Intelligence LLC, a Virginia limited liability company ("we", "us"). Questions: hello@yardsignals.com.
What Yard Signals does
Yard Signals watches the weather forecast for the ZIP code you give it and sends you push notifications when a yard chore is worth doing. To do that it needs a small amount of information, described below. We do not sell personal information and we do not show ads.
What we collect
- Account. Your email address and a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider, Supabase). We record that you confirmed you are 13 or older and that you accepted the Terms; we do not store your date of birth.
- Your yard. The ZIP code you enter, the approximate latitude and longitude and place name derived from it, and your time zone. We do not collect a street address or precise device location.
- Your settings. Which signals are on, their thresholds, what you protect from frost, whether you have sprinklers, a lawn, or a pool, your trash day, and your weekly-forecast preference.
- Activity. A log of the alerts we sent you and which ones you marked done, when you last mowed, checklist ticks, and (if you use a household) which account you share a yard with.
- Push subscription. The notification endpoint and keys your browser or device issues so we can deliver alerts. This identifies a device, not a person.
- Technical. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (IP address, request time, user agent) for security and debugging, typically for a short period.
How we use it
- To fetch forecasts for your area and evaluate your rules.
- To send the alerts you asked for, and the optional Sunday weekly forecast.
- To compute your frost calendar and hardiness zone from public climate data for your ZIP.
- To send account emails: confirmation, password reset, and important service notices. We do not send marketing email unless you opt in.
- To keep the service running and secure.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run Yard Signals, each bound to use the data solely to provide their service to us: Supabase (database and authentication), Render and Netlify (hosting), Resend (transactional email), and Open-Meteo (weather; receives only coordinates, never your identity). Hardiness zones are looked up by ZIP code from public USDA data. We share information with others only if the law requires it or to protect the safety of people or the service.
Households
If you invite someone to your household or join one, the members share the same yard, signal settings, and alert journal. Anyone in the household can see and change those. Test alerts, push subscriptions, and account emails stay with each person's own account. You can leave a household at any time from Settings.
Children
Yard Signals is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Turn any signal off, change any threshold, or turn off the weekly forecast in the app.
- Revoke notifications at any time in your phone or browser settings.
- Change your ZIP, or leave a household, in Settings.
- Delete your account by emailing hello@yardsignals.com from the address on the account. We delete your account data within 30 days; server logs age out on their own schedule.
Retention and security
We keep your data while your account exists. Data is stored with providers in the United States, encrypted in transit and at rest by those providers. No method is perfect; if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you as the law requires.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email.
